JCCA webinar recap: Growth trends, data, and technology shaping a smarter revenue mix for JCCs

Jewish Community Centers are in a period of measurable growth.

Households are returning. Participation is deepening. At the same time, executive leaders are navigating rising operational complexity, expanded scholarship commitments, and higher expectations for digital accessibility.

In partnership with the JCC Association of North America, Daxko joined JCC executives from across the movement for a leadership conversation on what current growth trends mean for financial sustainability and operational strategy. This was not a product webinar. It was a movement-level discussion grounded in real data and real-world experience.

The session featured Deborah Kadetsky, Chief Engagement Officer at Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan; Stephanie Chauss, CEO of Minnesota JCC; and Constance Miller, Principal of Nonprofit Research at Daxko.

The throughline was clear. Growth is happening. But sustainable growth requires visibility.

Top takeaways from the webinar

Growth across the movement is measurable and meaningful

Aggregate data shared during the session, sourced from the approximately 69+ JCCs using Daxko solutions, revealed strong multi-year trends:

  • 7% growth in households served
  • More than 12% growth in individuals served within those households

This gap matters.

It shows that participation is not only expanding outward to new families. It is deepening inside households. More members within a family are engaging across fitness, early childhood education, camps, cultural programming, and community events.

For JCC leaders, deeper engagement signals stronger retention and long-term stability.

Revenue growth and access are rising together

The insights discussed during the webinar also highlighted an important dynamic. Membership growth has occurred alongside increased subsidies and scholarships.

This reflects the core mission of Jewish Community Centers. Financial sustainability and expanded access are advancing together.

Maintaining this balance requires disciplined reporting across membership, program participation, discounts, and payments. Many centers rely on integrated membership management and financial reporting systems to unify these views rather than managing disconnected spreadsheets.

Clear visibility allows leaders to grow responsibly without compromising accessibility.

Real-time data changes how leaders respond

Stephanie Chauss, CEO at the Minnesota JCC, shared how access to live registration data enables faster, more confident decisions.

When a swim class fills quickly, that is not simply a metric. It is a signal to expand capacity immediately.

Without real-time visibility, that opportunity might not be recognized until the next session. With connected operational dashboards and registration reporting, leaders shorten the decision cycle and respond while demand is active.

The goal is not efficiency for its own sake. The goal is responsiveness that strengthens both experience and revenue.

Digital discoverability now drives participation

Deborah Kadetsky, Chief Engagement Officer, described how Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan invested in search optimization and website restructuring to expand reach beyond its known audience.

The results discussed during the session were significant:

A practical example illustrated the shift. Instead of organizing content around internal terminology like “aquatics,” the website emphasized language families actually search for, such as “swim lessons.”

For JCCs across the JCC Association network, digital presence is no longer secondary to in-building programming. It is a primary entry point for community engagement.

Alignment across departments strengthens credibility

A recurring theme throughout the webinar was alignment.

Stephanie Chauss summarized the leadership objective as one mission, one voice, one team.

When marketing, membership, finance, and programming operate from different reports or inconsistent definitions, leadership conversations slow down. When there is a single source of truth, decision-making accelerates.

Shared data builds credibility with boards, funders, and community partners. It also reduces internal friction.

For a movement as interconnected as the JCC ecosystem, alignment is a strategic advantage.

Why this conversation matters for the JCC movement

Jewish Community Centers manage complex, multi-revenue operations. Fitness memberships, camps, youth programs, arts and culture, early childhood education, senior services, rentals, and community engagement initiatives each carry their own operational demands.

The webinar reinforced that sustainable growth depends on operational clarity beneath every program area.

Leaders need:

  • Real-time participation visibility
  • Household-level engagement insight
  • Scholarship and revenue transparency
  • Digital discoverability
  • Reduced administrative burden

When systems are fragmented, teams spend time reconciling. When systems are unified, teams spend time serving.

Growth follows clarity.

And clarity begins with trusted data.
